A Little Older

Newly born:

Thoughtless, ignorant, mild.

Dependent, sterile, fragile.

Old people:

Grateful, happy, tired.

Wise, determined, unafraid.

Wanting to be both.

Ignorant to not know how to lie.

Fragile, so others won’t drop me off.

Trying to be like each.

Tired just to help myself take a rest.

Unafraid to take big risks.

What does it take to live?

Frankly, I am truly scared of breathing.

Breathing in deception and animosity.

When we get a little older, our dreams

Become extinct; starting to vanish.

Our soul grows and matures but we

Tend to undergo the same things.

Over… and over… and over again.

I suppose this is the time we doubt

Who we want ourselves to be.

We are losing are own sunlight,

We are leading our own selves

To misery. To unvisited lotus land.

Let’s accomplish our childhood once again.

Let’s make our idyllic realm a part

Of this limited reality.
