White Lines Across the Street

A stranger from a dream that can’t be recovered.

Tried to fall asleep but a thousand times failed.

I’ve met the stranger in a pedestrian lane.

Bumped, eye contact, breath exchanged…

He focused his eyes on mine for a few seconds.

In a snap, we’re both back to reality.

Fell asleep inside my car, stuck for about an hour.

Trying to remember the face of that stranger,

I have seen in my dreams.

I know it’s purely impossible to remember

Dreams that foretell the future but I firmly

Believe that there’s a way to find this connection.

Pulse racing, gasping for air, suffocated.

Drops of tears making my plain white shirt wet.

Wiped streaming liquid of agony with a head scarf.

Woke up in the middle of chaos, car has crashed.

Supposed-to-be premonition, you crossing the pedestrian lane.

We met; I should’ve walked instead of driving.

Not a stranger to me, no more hidden

Personalities.

I’ll catch you sooner than you think.
